A large percentage off is only one part of the picture. Use these four checks to decide whether an offer actually fits your needs and budget.
Read the conditions.

Check the checkout price.
Include shipping and estimated tax. Compare the final total with other offers for the same item. A crossed-out reference price alone does not establish value.

Use your own numbers to estimate one discount, shipping and tax. Then check the final amount on Amazon before ordering.
Illustrative example: a $40 item with 20% off has a $32 item price before shipping and tax. These are sample numbers, not a live offer.
Quick calculation:
Item price − discount + shipping + tax = estimated total.
For a percentage discount, multiply the item price by the percentage divided by 100. For example: $40 − $8 + $0 + $0 = $32.
